Serbian/Croatian Sustainment Activities

Read this before you begin using this program:

1. This course was designed to help improve the Serbian/Croatian language skills of military linguists who have already developed their proficiency level to at least 1+ or 2 in Reading and Listening Comprehension.
2. The language materials used in this program consist of a compilation of information coming from various sources in the former Yugoslavia (the Background section), verbatim copies of materials from periodicals published in the republics of the former Yugoslavia (Conflicts in the Balkans) and SCOLA video news clips. 3. You can do the activities in any order, however, it is recommended that you start with the Background information section before going on to the Conflicts in the Balkans. Within the units, use the Next and Previous buttons to navigate
4. At the beginning of each activity an instruction box will be displayed.  Read these instructions carefully and make sure that you understand the task(s) before continuing.
5. In order to reset a particular activity, click on the Refresh button on the navigation bar.  If you use the Internet browser refresh button, some write-in fields may not be cleared.
6. Once starting an activity, make every effort to complete it; the browser will reset the page upon leaving... all your work will be lost.
7. For optimum viewing, set the "Text Size" on the "View" drop-down menu to medium.
8. In order to type in Serbian (cyrillic) or Croatian (Latin), you must prepare your computer to use these keyboards.  If you do not already have these keyboards installed on your system, follow the instructions.
9. You will also need to prepare your system to play audio and video clips.  The
